Jannik Sinner wins the ATP 500 tournament in Montpellier after defeating Maxime Cressy 7-6 6-3 in Sunday's final.
The American made some difficult conditions for the pre-match favorite to take the win, presenting good serving performance which helped him to upset the tournament's seed #1 Holger Rune and #3 Borna Coric in previous rounds. Sinner had a chance to start the match pretty well with two breakpoint chances in the opening game, but Cressy defended it and held from the start. The Italian faced a big trouble within own serve in 4th game, coming out from 0-40 score to secure his game. The set was decided in tiebreak, where Sinner won first 4 points and did not blow away his advantage till the end. Second set had a simillar turn of events with both players keeping their serves, but the decisive moment arrived in 8th game when Sinner created two breakpoints and managed to gain the only one break of whole the match.
It's the seventh career's ATP title for 21 years-old Italian who will move up to 14th place in Monday's ATP ranking list. Cressy will capitalize on his great week in France with gaining 11 places and moving up to 40th. Both players are scheduled to play in next week's ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam as well.
