While the February's middle east swing has ended up, the big action is coming soon with the Sunshine Double being just around the corner. There is no break in WTA calendar during the one week gap between those two swings though, as some notable players will compete in WTA 250 events in Austin and Monterrey.
Austin hosts the first ever edition of ATX Open tournament. The biggest name in main draw in Texas is Danielle Collins, who was the first player announced to commit in the inaugural WTA 250 event in Austin. The American who is seeded with #4 has quite decent chances to win the whole tournament once getting the formidable draw for the first time this season. "Danimal" has already participated in all the biggest tournaments in WTA calendar this year, having a bad luck with getting involved into clashes against absolute top players in the opening stages of almost every event. This time, the American will start her Austin campaign from the match against Magdalena Frech. It will be third meeting of those players in the time of just 4 months, with two wins under Collins's belt so far.
There are also a few other interesting names, than can make a title run in Austin. Magda Linette will headline the main draw as the seed #1 in second back-to-back week after being a top seed in WTA 250 Merida Open. The recent AO semifinalist will play an interesting first round match against Varvara Gracheva. Shuai Zhang is the seed #2. The world's number 24 will face Harriet Dart in the opening round. Local fans will have a chance to witness as many as 5 all-American matchups during the first round. Sloane Stephens vs Taylor Townsend or Caty Mcnally vs Ashlyn Krueger can be the best highlights of those.
