The weekend in Adelaide was exciting not just because of decisive stages of Adelaide 1 tournament, but also because of enormously strong qualifying field for the WTA 500 tournament in following week. Absolutely epic battle was played between Qinwen Zheng and Anastasia Potapova. The spot in main draw was decided in third set tiebreak, which ended up after 3 hours and 36 minutes. Zheng converted her four matchpoint after a non-break deciding set which lasted 1h24mins.

Amanda Anisimova failed to book her spot in main tournament, losing 6-7 6-4 1-6 with Jil Teichmann. Anisimova was the #1 seed in qualies with a neccesity to play in it despite being ranked #23 in the world.

Another quali winners are Sorana CIrstea, Kalinskaya, Karolina Pliskova and Katerina Siniakova.

Main draw starts on Monday with cracking clashes on the card. Petra Kvitova and Elena Rybakina, both Grand Slam champions, will start the action on the Centre Court. Danielle Collins and Karolina Pliskova will follow in the afternoon local time, while Garbine Muguruza and Belinda Bencic are scheduled to start the evening session.
