Qatar TotalEnergies Open is the next stop on women's middle-east swing of Hologic WTA Tour. The WTA 500 tournament in Doha guarantees the big emotions and highest possible level of tennis, as 7 out of top 10 and 16 out of top 20 players will participate in the competition, where main draw matches start tomorrow.
The main draw was revealed on Saturday during the press conference which preceeded the on-court action in Doha. This kind of stacked draw deliverd a couple of delightful match-ups as early as in 1st round. The duels which highlight the opening round are f.ex. Paula Badosa vs Beatriz Haddad Maia, Madison Keys vs Jelena Ostapenko, Maria Sakkari vs Qinwen Zheng or Veronika Kudermetova vs Barbora Krejcikova.
Top four seeds receive a bye in first round, but there are some possible match-ups which already electrify even before the start of the tournament. Iga Swiatek can face Danielle Collins, if the American overcomes the qualifier in first round. It is the possible revenge for Australian Open 2022 semifinal, when 'Danimal' scored a dominant win against Swiatek which gave her maiden Grand Slam final and world's top 10 membership for a couple of months. Jessica Pegula is supposed to play against the winner of a duel between Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko which can be another top clash of 2nd round.
